Saharanpur (28th Dec.) Dr. Ashish Saini, M.S., a product of Asha Modern School Saharanpur, KGMC Lucknow and AIIMS, New Delhi  was honoured in a gracious programme in AIIMS's convocation function on becoming an expert in robotic surgery.  Dr. Ashish Saini was not only congratulated by his proud parents - Mrs. and Dr. Satya Prakash Saini of Anaj Mandi Saharanpur but also by  UPA's Chairperson Ms. Sonia Gandhi who honoured Dr. Ashish with the medal.  Dr. Ashish dedicated this great achievement to his parents and to the city of Saharanpur.

Robotic surgery or computer-assisted surgery is the latest surgical technique enabling a surgeon to carry out minimal invasive surgery by controlling various surgical instruments through computer-directed robot.  For this a tele-manipulator is used which allows the surgeon to perform normal movements during surgery while actual surgery is carried out by the robotic arm under guidance of the surgeon.  This helps the patient in having minimum possible incisions and high-precision instrumental control.

Dr. Ashish Saini, always a topper in school and also at King George Medical College, Lucknow during his MBBS and MS,  is one of the three surgeons from India and the only one from AIIMS, New Delhi who were hand-picked for the 30 days' rigorous training schedule in Las Vegas in US.  Ms. Sonia Gandhi, while felicitating the young doctor of Saharanpur for this extra-ordinary achievement, hoped that he would be better and even more comforting healer to his patients.  The Health Minister,  also present on the stage, gave away certificates to the honoured doctors.

Dr. Ashish Saini, a pool officer at AIIMS - the country's premier health-care institution has assured the people of Saharanpur that they would receive personalised attention if, God forbid, they need some medical attention.
