Adieu Dinesh Chandra ! Welcome Harish Chandra

Posted by Sushant Singhal on August 31, 2010 at 10:26 PM

So, the state has finally buckled under the political pressure exerted by various trade organisations of Saharanpur - agreeing to transfer Ex-City Magistrate Dinesh Chandra and has decided to replace him with Mr. Harish Chandra from Allahabad.

Transfer of an officer from one city to another is nothing extra ordinary except when it is done to appease certain group of individuals as has happened in this case.  This group had made it a prestige issue and political leaders, finding something in it for them too, jumped into the fray.  So, when political heavyweights exerted pressure on the govt.,  our weak-kneed political system, as usual, succumbed to it.

While Saharanpurians say adieu to Dr. Dinesh Chandra Singh and thank him for his untiring efforts to bring some sense of law and order in the mind of general public,  we also hope that Mr. Harish Chandra would be equally determined to bring to book the encroachers, profiteers, counterfeiters and criminals moving around in white clothes.  Let all the good steps taken by Dinesh Chandra continue in the new regimen too.  We don't find any coloured plastic in the market now and the credit goes to Dr. Dinesh Chandra Singh for this phenomenon - which is something new for Saharanpur.

While confrontational approach won't go far, it is also true that LIVE AND LET OTHERS LIVE approach adopted towards criminals and anti-social elements also won't benefit the society.  So, the new officer has to tread his path carefully.   We welcome him into Saharanpur.
